Devotional thought

Humanity has been crying out to God for intervention throughout the ages, and today is certainly no exception! We need Jesus to come, to be a part of our lives, to wake up the sinners and the saints, to cause a revival to break out that would cause the nations to shout of His fame! Even so, Come!

I know that it may be a bit scary to think about what we are inviting Jesus to do when we sing these words, but I absolutely do not want to hesitate in asking the Lord Jesus to Come. It is our very hope, to see our Lord in the air one day, to experience His intervention in our lives, to see His deliverance! I want to reflect upon that Day. I want to use it to motivate me to tell others about the wonderful Savior, and that He has defeated death forever and promised all who come to Him by faith an eternal home with Him forever when He does return!

The Scripture says to “encourage” one another with this message. See, the Bible doesn’t count this message a scary one for those who have accepted the free gift of salvation, only for those that have not received the Gospel for themselves. To them it will be a horrible day, and I (along with my 11 year old son who prays almost every night for there to be more who go to heaven then those who don’t when Jesus returns) pray often that God will pour out a revival in our day that will result in the salvation of many souls!

Waiting on God is a recurring theme in the Scriptures. It is an encouragement to place our hope and trust into the reality that God will intervene, that He is Faithful and True, that His promises never fail, and that we will see Him one day! To say, “Come Lord Jesus” is not just an invitation for Him to return from Heaven to Earth, it is an invitation for His intervention into our situations even now!

So, wait on the Lord in whatever situation you are facing! Wait on the Lord for the healing you are seeking. Wait on the Lord for transformation to happen in your loved ones life, etc. In all things strength will rise as we, WAIT ON THE LORD!!

Questions for Reflection

  • In our song of the day, Come Lord Jesus (Even So Come), as we sing the lyrics we are actually engaging in a prayer for Christ’s return! Does that intimidate you, or can you join with the saints of old with a sincere cry for the Lord’s return and to establish His rule and reign on this earth?
  • Are you prepared in your own heart to meet Jesus if He returns today?
  • Does the reality of Jesus’ return help motivate you to tell others about the wonderful love of God in Christ Jesus? Will you tell someone of this Gospel today?
  • IS there a situation that is requiring you to be still and wait right now? Have you invited the Lord Jesus into that situation?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You for the comfort of knowing that I have a Savior who is returning to take me to be with You. I thank You that my eternal life is sealed in Jesus Christ by the deposit of the Holy Spirit in my life! I do ask Your forgiveness for those times that I do not wait on You, that I lose hope in You. I repent and I do join together with the saints of old in my cry to You, Come Lord Jesus – Even So, COME! In Jesus’ name. Amen
