“Stand in Your Love” by Josh Baldwin

Devotional thought

“I pray that according to the wealth of his glory he will grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ will dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love, you will be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you will be filled up to all the fullness of God.”

Ephesians 1:16-19

As we see in the text, being rooted in the Love of God was a big deal for Paul and the Churches he was planting as an Apostle! And, I think it needs to be a big deal to us as well.

We face many distractions, temptations, trials, fears, etc., in this world! Consequently, we need to learn that God’s love is a very powerful force for helping us to overcome all of these things. We can endure and overcome anything as we face them rooted and grounded in God’s love!

Moreover, John tells us in 1 John 4:18 that the love of God, which is perfect love, casts out fear! Fear is a terrible master in our lives, but as we learn to stand in the love God has for us we will learn to reject the lying and torturous nature of fear and embrace the Truth of God over us. So, that is why it is important to maintain ourselves in the love of God (Jude 1:21).

Finally, faith and love working together will be the force that helps us reject shame and fear. Also, having faith in Jesus Christ and the love He has for us is actually what gives us the power to be conquerers (1 John 5:4) in this world! So, we have to believe the truth of God’s Word, which explains the depth of God’s love for us, if we are to be able to stand on the firm foundation of a love that casts out fear!

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me love! Thank You for demonstrating Your love in action, not just with words. And I ask that You help me to trust that You truly do love me and that I have nothing to fear. I love You Lord and praise You always for Your covenantal love! In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
