Devotional thought
Finding satisfaction in the presence of God! That is what our song of the day is all about.
What could be better than spending time in the courts of God? His beauty, His splendor, His transformational power, His comfort, His everything! There is nothing more fulfilling, more profound, more peaceful, thank being near the Lord.
That is why we see so many times throughout the book of Psalms this phrase, “My soul longs for You, God”. We all have a God-shaped hole in our soul, and it can only be satisfied by the presence of God. Too many of us though are seeking in vain to satisfy this longing by other means, and it is driving us into despair and emptiness!
- Seek to spend time in the presence of God, to see His beauty, to find Him in the place His glory dwells! This will always result in your satisfaction and never leave you feeling empty.
- Develop a rhythm of worship in your daily activities.
- Establish times where you are encountering the life-giving presence of God, and you too will say, “Better is one day, one minute, no – one-second, in Your presence than a thousand elsewhere, Lord!”.
Prayer
Wonderful God, I praise You. I seek Your loving and comforting presence even now Lord. I am so sorry God for attempting to fill those areas of my life that feel empty with anything other than You. I repent now Father and I seek to fill my life with You completely. Holy Spirit, help me to reject lesser things and to choose You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
