What is the Captivating Force in Your Life? Worship Devotional

Song of the Day

“Captivate Us” by Watermark

Devotional thought

In today’s world, to ask anyone to have a singular focus is just about ludicrous! Our attention is being pulled many directions by captivating forces around us. Some are good and some are bad, but sensory overload is happening to many of us.

The Bible calls us to fix our attention, our gaze, upon One thing though, the Lord Jesus Christ! Hebrews 12:2 tells us that, but why do we have a hard time applying this text to our life?

The “lust of the eyes” is a strong temptation to overcome indeed, but we are able to do so when we activate some very important disciplines to our daily rhythms. Daily exposure to the Lord through prayer, reading His Word, worshiping through song, and other things like this will greatly increase our capacity to be captivated by our Savior.

Seek FIRST His Kingdom, His righteousness, and the Bible tells us that all of the things we tend to be captivated by will be added to us anyway. Food, clothing, relationships, etc. are all captivating forces that can be overcome by keeping our focus on Jesus!

So lets “let everything be lost in the shadows of the light of His face.” I agree with the prayer of this song, “Captivate us Lord Jesus.”! How about you?

Prayer

Oh God, I praise You for being wonderfully captivating as I look to You. I thank You that You are able to fulfill all of my longings Lord. I look to You now to help me fix my gaze upon You at all times. Forgive me Lord when I become captivated by lesser things. In Jesus Name, Amen.
