Thriving – John 7:37
READ: John 7:37
CHALLENGE: Thrive with Jesus
A. HEAR THE INVITATION
John 7:37 – On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
1. The Invitation Is to the Thirsty
2. The Invitation is Bold
3. The Invitation is for Salvation
Come to me and drink! One of the verses they read every Feast of Tabernacles was Isaiah 12:3 – “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation”.
Matthew 11:28-29 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls..”
B. SIMPLY BELIEVE IN JESUS
V38 – Whoever believes.”
1. Believe in Jesus
John 3:16 – For God so loved It’s whosoever believes! They have eternal life.
2. Believe in Scripture
Psalm 78:15-16 – He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them water as abundant as the seas;.
C. PROMISE …. rivers of living water.
”39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. The waters are the Holy Spirit which is granted to believers through faith. After the resurrection, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit and this is a game-changer for Christians. Belief led to Holy Spirit indwelling.
1. Power Rivers will flow.
2. Life Rivers of living water.
Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
3. Internal Strength
Isaiah 44:3 – For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,. And just like the dry land needed water, we need the Spirit in our lives. And the Holy Spirit is a river of water flowing from within. What an impact! This is a change from within. The best kind of changes come from within your heart. And the nice thing about within is that no one can touch it. Nothing changes it! If you hit a crisis and you panic, then you’re panicky from the inside out. If you hit a crisis and you’re calm, you’re calm. Inside out! The outside world does not mold internal life.
Ezekiel 47:8-9 – He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, 9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Salt water will become fresh. There is a true change here because of the Holy Spirit.
Obedience to God #sundayservice #jesus #bibleteaching
Your relationship with God is connected with your obidence to God. There has to be a connection with your vertical relationship with God and how you treat people.

CHALLENGE: Truly Connect with God
GOD IS SEEKING TRUE WORSHIPERS
How about this thought. Just like we’re looking for God, God is looking for us!
Vv19-21 – “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
Joshua 24:25-26 – On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws. 26 And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the Lord.
There are six observations I’d like to make about worshipping God.
1. Worship is About WHO; Not
Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you,.
2. Worship is to the Father
3. Worship with Knowledge
V22 – You Samaritans worship what you do not know;.
Matthew 7:21-23 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
4. Worship in Spirit
Vv 23-24 – Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
Psalm 51:17 – My sacrifice, O God, is a broken and contrite heartyou, God, will not despise. Joel 2:12-13 – “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”13 Rend your heart.
5. Worship in Truth
Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him. ·
6. Worship God who is SPIRIT
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

Come to the Well – John 4:4
READ: John 4:4
CHALLENGE: Encounter God
A. GOD WORKS IN DAILY LIFE
Vv4-9 – Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. There’s a well credited to Jacob. It’s noon.
1.God Works in Hostile
2.God Works in the Daily Grind
3.God Works to Bridges Barriers
4.God Works Through Common Analogies from Life
Isaiah 64:7 – No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; our sins. God tells them, you’re not even trying! There is a well but we need to come to the well. Have we had that encounter with God? Do we seek?
Psalm 42:1-2, 5 – As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.?V5 – Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
B. OUR MESSED UP WORLD NEEDS A DEEP SPIRITUAL CONNECTION TO GOD.
Vv10-14 – Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”13 Jesus answered, .”15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”17 “I have no husband,” she replied..”
Revelation 21:6 – He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.
14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
He offers living water for free! Come to the well!
Transformational Power
What a chilling but true commentary on the sin nature that is within us. All have fallen and come short of the glory of God. We all are in need of the savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!
