Look Ahead to Heaven

Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever it is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is.

And everyone who has this hope focused on him purifies himself, just as Jesus is pure).

1 John 3:2–3 (NET 2nd ed.)

Focused attention to what is ahead of us is a critical step to walking in purity and righteousness! I believe the reason the Bible emphasizes Heaven so much is because that hope will compel holiness within everyone whose hope is put on living there forever.

The Apostle John tells us in the verses above that whoever focuses their attention (faith) on Christ, and being made like Him and seeing Him one day, will purify themselves just as Christ is pure! That is a pretty powerful statement, but very true too!

Certainty that Changes Our Activity

Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

See, if the Bible says it then it will be so! And for those of us who believe that the Son of Man is coming back one day, we want to allow that certainty to compel our activity. We want to be alert and actively looking for that return so we are ready!

Joining that Hymn of Heaven is something that is magnificent to reflect upon, right? We will all be joining together in forever bliss and harmony with all the saints and angels in Heaven! Wow! What a thought and hope we have to hold on to!

The more we can align our thoughts today to that which we will see on the streets of Heaven, the more righteous and pure our walk of faith will be! Let’s apply our faith in what is to come into what is today and join the Hymn of Heaven right now!! Hallelujah.

“This song is not only a hope for the future, but it is a hope for the now.”

Prayer

Father in Heaven, I pray that You will help me to stay focused in the now on what You have promised to me in the future. I long to sing the Hymn of Heaven with all the saints who have gone before me, and I ask that You, Holy Spirit, will remind me to sing that Hymn today! Allow the hope of Heaven to guide my daily activities God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
