Song of the Day
“Glorious” by Brian & Katie Torwalt
Devotional thought
Today’s song of the day leads us to sing about the glorious nature of God, along with the peace, hope, love, and joy that comes from knowing Him!
When I was thinking through this song, the verse from Psalm 19:1 came to mind, and I thought of the entirety of creation joining together to declare the glorious and good nature of the God who redeems His creation!
It is creation that is to declare (to make something known) the glory of God. And how does it do that, but by putting His power and “handiwork” on full display! The lights of the expanse reveal the light of Christ. Sun and Moon remind us of the radiance of God. And so on!
The parallelism between the glory of God and the work of his hands indicates that the objects of creation are demonstrations (or evidence) of God’s glory.
CSB Study Bible Notes
It’s not the creation we worship, but the God who reveals His glory through that creation.
Making the personal connection
Our lives are meant to be lived in such a way that the Lord will be glorified as others observe us! We are His representatives on this earth, created in His image to reflect a glorious God back to the world.
Questions for Reflection
- Is your life representing the glories of God well?
- Does your soul cry out for more of God’s holiness in your life?
- What is your response to the God of all glory?
Action Steps
Shine as Lights in this World
Philippians 2:15 instructs us to live free from fault in this world as a way to shine the Gospel message brightly to unbelievers!
Look for Ways to Declare the Glory of God
We have many interactions with people, and every one of them gives us a chance to share something about the love, hope, joy, peace, and goodness of God! With all of the negative in the world, people are hungry to hear of this sort of thing.
Our soul cries out and eagerly longs for a connection with the God who is glorious! When we share testimonies of God’s handiwork in our lives it will attract people to Him. Thus, the Lord will receive more glory and praise!
And like our song todays says, “at the sound of all praise the Heavens will shake and the Earth will move”! Hallelujah.
Prayer
O’ glorious God. I praise Your matchless name and give You all praise and glory and honor. You redeemed my life from the pit I was trapped in, and now I want my life to declare Your goodness and glory to a lost world around me. Thank You God for revealing Your glorious nature to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
