God’s Love is Demonstrated in Action

But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

The Bible says that we have a God that doesn’t just “say” that He loves us, although He does and it is a blessing to hear those words, but that our God demonstrates His love toward us in action! We can see this displayed from the beginning to the end of the Bible. If there is one thing God really wants us to know it is that He deeply loves His children!

In the verse mentioned above we see that God demonstrated His love by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us even while we were still against Him and in our sinful ways. He did’t let our actions stop Him from showing us love! This is true, unconditional love.

By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God has sent his one and only Son into the world so that we may live through him.

1 John 4:9

Christ’s death is the expression of love demonstrated by the Father, whose plan it was to redeem His people from their sinful ways! It is how we can see His deep, deep love on display, and I pray that you see it and respond to it today by a demonstration of your love and faith in Him. Don’t just say you love God, demonstrate it by the way you live!

It is Difficult to Fully Grasp God’s Love

For many of us it is very difficult to fully embrace and understand this type of love. But the great news of the Bible is that God’s love is available to all who will seek it out and believe!

In our song of the day, we sing these words, “How great the pain of searing loss, the Father turns His face away. As wounds which marred the Chosen One, bring many sons to glory.”! O’ how deep the Father’s love for us, indeed how vast beyond all measure, that He would send His only Son to make a wretch (that’s me and you) His treasure!

How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total!

Psalm 139:17

I know that we hear this message a lot, and that we probably have John 3:16 memorized. But, I wonder if many of us still have a difficult time fully grasping the love the Father has demonstrated for us.

We know of His love, but sometimes I fear that we don’t dwell in His love! I love this phrase found in the book of Jude, verse 21, “maintain yourselves in the love of God…”! It is our responsibility to dwell, or keep ourselves, in the love of God and we do this by rehearsing how He demonstrated His love toward us often.

He gave His Son, saved us, adopted us, forgave our sins, gave us eternal life, and so much more! God is a loving Father who withholds no good thing from those who love Him and walk with integrity (see Psalm 84:11)!

Don’t let the difficulty of grasping God’s love stop you from seeking it out, being rooted and established in it, and getting filled to the measure of all the fullness of God through it forever!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise You for being the God of love! You have been so gracious to not only say that You love me, but demonstrating that love in real terms. I love You and want to be filled to the fullest measure in Your love. Holy Spirit, please help me to experience the Father’s love each day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
