Devotional thought

Worship is the avenue that takes us into an experience with the presence of the Lord. Jesus is our access, humility is the vehicle, and praise is the avenue to meet with God! I want us all to realize the importance of the presence of God in our lives today.

“Your presence is my weapon” is a lyric that we sing in today’s song. I agree with this statement whole-heartedly! Knowing that God is with us is crucial for us to have confidence to face anything that comes against us. What greater power is there than God? Moses told God in Exodus 33 that he wasn’t moving without knowing that God is with him! He understood the power of the presence of God!

I think that far too often we forget that we need God’s presence with us. We should be in a posture of awareness at all times throughout our day on where God is moving.

  • Who are we talking to?
  • Why are we talking to them?
  • Is God in this conversation?
  • How can I interject God into this conversation?
  • Where is God moving in this situation at work, in the grocery store, in the car with my child, etc,?

It is sobering to realize the amount of times I go through a day without being aware of God’s movement. Sure I could say the normal stuff like; in the weather, in the beauty of creation, and so-on, but I am more interested in the specifics! I want to become more in tune throughout my day to the Spirit’s movement.

How many times would I sin if I were fully aware that God’s presence is right there with me? Would I be so quick to spout off that crude joke, that harsh word, or that gossip? Could the enemy influence me, attack me, and lead me if I were constantly aware of God’s presence? Not only aware, but relying on Him?

His presence is my weapon, how about you? We need to become more desperate and aware of His presence if we want to experience Him specifically in our lives! The good news is that He promises everyone who seeks Him that He will be found by them, if they seek for Him with all their heart!

Prayer

God of Heaven and Earth. Your presence is what I seek today. I want to know that You are with me, and I want to use that knowledge to fight off the temptations of the flesh and the devil. My desire is to become more aware of You in my life, so my prayer is that You would manifest Yourself to me in specific and evident ways Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
