May We Offer Praises To God With Boundless Love And Deepest Joy!

Song of the Day

“May the Peoples Praise You” by Keith and Kristen Getty

Devotional thought

Praise our God, you nations. Loudly proclaim his praise.

Psalm 66:8

To loudly proclaim the praises of God is to make them heard! And that is exactly what our song of the day is telling us to do, praise God with a loud voice!

In the context of Psalm 66 the people of Israel are praising God for the amazing works He has accomplished for His people. And, they are wanting this praise to spread throughout the world to the surrounding nations and beyond.

Verse 5 invites everyone to come and see the exploits, literally the acts, of God on behalf of His people! These people were so joyful of the delivering work of God on their behalf that they wanted everyone to know the power they had experienced.

Psalm 145 also has this emphasis of praise, and verse 3 tells us why:

The Lord is great and certainly worthy of praise. No one can fathom his greatness.

Psalm 145:3

See, the Israelites have proven over and over through real life examples that God was truly great and none could fathom His almighty power towards them. The only thing left for them to do as a result of His greatness was to return their praises!

Making the personal connection

Whether it’s the Israelites of 1000 B.C., or the Christians of 2023 A.D., we have reason to praise the Lord and to invite others to do the same! He has not left us alone in this world, but is working each day in miraculous ways all around us.

I know for me to keep a journal and chart some of the acts/exploits of the Lord in my life has been very helpful. It has shown how faithful God has been to me and the answers to prayer that I’ve received, and it generally results in a praise from my lips to the Lord God!

Questions for Reflection

  • When was the last time you shouted your praise for God’s activity in your life?
  • Do you keep track of God’s activity in your life?
  • Will you invite others to join with you in praising God, by sharing testimonies of His greatness?

Application

Our song of the day instructs us in verse 2 with this beautiful encouragement:

May our every breath retell the grace that broke into our strife, with boundless love and deepest joy, with endless life.

May the Peoples Praise You (verse 2) Keith and Kristen Getty

Because I have boundless love for God and the activity I have witnessed in my life from Him does produce so much joy, I want to use every breath I have to declare God’s greatness.

Start journaling God’s activity in your life and offer your praises to God for all that He does. Not only that, but study the Nature and Characteristics of God and offer praises to Him for WHO HE IS!

That is what we see the Israelites doing in these Psalms as they rehearse not only WHAT God did, but also WHO God revealed Himself to be in the exploits toward His people. Every exploit/action reveals a bit more of His Character.

When we can make this connection we will begin to gain a greater understanding of how God acts and His character, and we will begin to see how to make the connection between our prayer life and those attributes and actions of God!

So, join me in studying the ways and nature of our God and shouting our praises to Him with boundless love and endless joy always!

Prayer

God of glory and grace, I praise You for all that You have done in my life and revealed Yourself to be! You are my Savior and Deliverer, my Source and Strength, and I loudly proclaim Your praises even now for showing Yourself great in my life. Please help me to offer my praises to You without limits. In Jesus’ name, amen.
