The Riches of God’s Love will Always Be Enough!

Song of the Day

“Forever Reign” by Hillsong Live

Devotional thought

Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love. Then we will shout for joy and be happy all our days.

Psalm 90:14 (NET 2nd ed)

The expectation of the Psalmist is not to live a life free of adversity, but that within the adversity the loyal love of God would be experienced! Even when the situations of life seemed to be overwhelming (see Ps 90:13), the Psalmist is crying out to God to be his satisfaction.

Joy and happiness are a direct bi-product of experiencing the love of God in our life. And the only real way to experience this type of love is to draw near to the Source of it – God Almighty.

Our Mediator that gains us access to this Holy God is Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us in a sacrificial act of love which resulted in His death on a Cross and our forgiveness.

let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.

Hebrews 10:22 (NET 2nd ed)

Making the personal connection

See, we must understand that satisfaction will never be realized in our life with lesser things than God Himself. The Psalmist understood this and it is imperative that we understand it as well!

Money, fame, relationships, and the like will never be enough. I just read this morning in Ecclesiastes 5 that those who chase after riches will never be satisfied with what they get! I also spoke with someone else about the devastation of pornography and sexual sins, and how chasing after these things always leaves people unsatisfied because it is insatiable! It’s the truth.

Jesus is the only Name that will bring true satisfaction and peace in our life. Nothing compares to His embrace when life gets hard, and there is none on this earth that can perfectly empathize with all of our weaknesses as our Savior! That is why we must wake up each day and cry out like the Psalmist;

“Lord God, satisfy my longing today, my temptations, my desires, my hurts, my….with Your loyal love so I can find joy and happy contentment today”!

Questions for Reflection

  • What are you running to in order to get satisfaction?
  • Is God’s love enough to satisfy the longings of your heart? Why, or why not?
  • Are you willing to let go of lesser things to find true contentment and joy in the love of God?

Application

We must draw near to God in order to experience Him drawing near to us. So, let’s commit to seeking Him throughout the day for our satisfaction. Let’s call on Him to be the good God we know He is in our life, the God of peace, love, joy, truth, and life that our song of the day proclaims!

We must get into the routine of running to Jesus FIRST! There are many things that are trying to distract us and promise satisfaction, but I promise none will ever be enough like Jesus Christ!

Prayer

My Lord and God, I will sing no other name but that of my Savior Jesus Christ. I praise You for being enough, for giving me joy and happiness in this life by lavishly pouring out Your love on me! Help me God to reject the temptations to run to lesser things for satisfaction in my life, but to always run to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
