Devotional thought

“My hope, Your word secures! You will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures.”

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) by Chris Tomlin

What a fantastic declaration from this song! The realization that when we look into the Bible to find our help and to find our instruction, we actually receive hope and direction through the message we find there!

This is the consistent pattern all throughout history of God’s directing power and hope-filling characteristics giving people hope! God loves to speak to us and loves when we come to Him with hearts dependent upon His voice to give us direction and guidance in life. It is a form of grace from God to be able to look into His word and to be inspired, finding security and hope when we read it! It’s an amazing grace that He would hear us when we call to Him, and actually respond to those calls for help.

I love this remake of the old hymn, Amazing Grace, as it declares, “My chains are gone, I’ve been set free!”, praise God! I hope that your hope is secure in the freedom that Christ has offered you. I pray that you have been inspired as you listen and sing this song, and that your faith is in Jesus Christ and the grace that He offers all of us.

Our hope is in the power of God to provide everlasting life for us! One day the sun will forbear to shine, the moon will be darkened, the earth will dissolve, and we will be in our new home in Heaven forever with God. That alone produces an immense amount of hope for my heart, and I pray that it does for you as well!

Prayer

God of hope, I praise You for loving me enough to provide Your Word and to give me encouragement through its consistent message of hope! I love You Lord, and I am grateful for the grace I have received from You. Please forgive me where I am feeling hopeless, when I take for granted the grace that You have extended to me. I repent, Lord, and I choose now to remain steadfast in Your Word in order to be revived in hope. In Jesus’ name. Amen
