The Lord Almighty loves you!
When you read that opening phrase does it produce awe in your heart? Seriously, does that truth still resonate in your heart as an incredible reality? Well, it does mine, and I am excited to share this song with you today that expresses praise for the fact that God’s love is so great!
“Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!”
Psalm 66:20
As the Psalmist declares in Psalm 66:20, we are to praise God for the fact that He doesn’t withhold His loyal love from us! He could, and He would be justified in doing so. But, our God lavishes His love upon us! He withholds no good thing from those who walk in integrity (see Ps 84:11).
Knowing that we are loved opens us up to operate and live in a way that aligns itself with that acceptance and love! It doesn’t allow for us to continue to remain in a sinful lifestyle, or treat people in an unloving way, or compromise on values. No, God’s love compels us to live righteously and for the glory of His Name!
This is why the Apostle Paul prayed for believers to be able to fully grasp and be rooted in the deep love of God!
“…And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:17(b)-19
He knew that if we know Christ as Savior and remember that it was God who was rich in mercy and love toward us that changed our lives forever, it would transform us from the inside out!
Jude tells us to keep ourselves in the love of God (see Jude 1:21), because it is when we focus on the love that God offers us is when we remain in awe of Him and live from that heart of worship!
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;”
Psalm 103:11
The skies above the earth seem to be an endless amount of space, right? Well, this Scripture reminds us that our God’s love is just like that too, endless!
As we discuss the awesome love of God for us, let’s not overlook the importance of a key phrase found in Ps 103:11, “…for those who fear Him.” This concept is one of having a reverent respect for the Lord! To stand in awe of Him. And the evidence of such a “fear” is obedience! A life of fruit and worship will be the bi-product of a reverent heart.
So, have you experienced a love so great as what God has offered you?
How have you responded to that love? In what ways?
Have you offered up your praises to the Lord for such a great love?
Prayer
Oh Father in Heaven. When I think of Your love toward me it makes me stand in awe of Your merciful and gracious nature! You truly are a loving and merciful God who lavishes Your love upon all who fear Your name!
Please help me to be rooted and grounded in Your love always. Help me to share that love with everyone I meet. I want to bring praise and glory to Your matchless name at all times Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
