The Word of God is Reliable and Remains Forever!

Song of the Day

“Word of God” by Brenton Brown

Devotional thought

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Matthew 24:35

These words of Christ are so refreshing in a world that is ever changing! He is giving this promise in regard to the end times and how we need to be looking at the signs of the times and remember His words when all seems to be looking like God’s return will not come. But the concept is applicable to all of life!

The faithful Word of God tells us that one day the Lord will return and take His Church to be with Him forever, and this promise is to bring us great comfort and encouragement when we look around and see the chaos of our world!

As it says in Isaiah 40:8, the grass withers and the flowers fade but the decree of the Lord is forever reliable! Creation is fading and groaning, but one thing we can rely on is the unfading promises of God.

Making the personal connection

The Word is a lamp to our feet and light to our path, illuminating the security we can have when facing many various chaotic situations. Just as Jesus was telling His disciples then, He is telling us to be vigilant, expectant, and looking for the fulfillment of those precious promises!

Questions for Reflection

  • Are you trusting in the Word of the Lord?
  • Do you look into the Bible for hope and hold onto the promises you find within those glorious pages?
  • Do you believe that the promises found in the Bible for you will remain forever? If so, how is that instructing your daily activities?

Action Steps

We need to read the Bible!

There are so many of us that fail to consistently go to the Word of God for our source of strength. Well, if this is true then how will we ever be able to see and embrace the reliable and sure promises that He has made to us?

We must become very familiar with the Bible and what God has spoken if we want it to light our path in this life!

Let’s trust God to do what He says He will do.

If God says that He will do something, then we can believe that He will! When we face dark valleys, He will be with us (Ps 23:4). When we face a diagnoses, He says we do not have to fear because He will never leave or abandon us in it (Deut 31:6)! When we don’t feel loved, He says that we will never be separated from His love (Rom 8:38-39). We have every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians. 1:3). And, we have all we need to for life and godliness in Christ (2 Peter 1:3)!

Trust these promises and apply them to your specific situations.

Make God your shield as you trust in Him!

It says in the Bible that faith is our shield (see Eph 6:16), and that faith comes by hearing (Rom 10:17), and hearing by the word of God which is our sword in this world (Eph 6:17) empowered by the Spirit!

We must trust that the Word has power to destroy evil in our life and to instruct us how to live out our new life of faith! Trust in the reliable and trustworthy character of our God and look to His Word for the encouragement you need today.

Prayer

Praise You Lord for being reliable and trustworthy in all Your ways. I choose to trust You even now in my life as I look to Your Word for encouragement. Thank You for the promise that You’re Word will remain forever. Help me to trust You Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
