Devotional thought

Our world is in desperate need of peace! So much chaos and disorder is happening all around us, maybe even within ourselves, and it is hard to focus on the Prince of peace when we are being distracted by such chaos all the time. Well, I hope to help you do that with this brief devotional.

In John 6:69 we hear the words of Peter, and Apostle of Jesus Christ, say this:

“We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God!”

John 6:69

The obvious question for us to meditate on is, “Do we know the holy One sent from God personally?” Have we come to believe in Jesus Christ, and decided in our heart to follow Him all of our days? We cannot ever expect to find that peace that surpasses all understanding spoken of in Philippians 4:7 if we do not know the God of peace personally, right? Peace begins with a relationship with God through accepting and abiding in His Son Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the One spoken of in Isaiah 9:6:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isa 9:6

In the song for today, we sing lyrics that come right out of this prophecy (Lyrics like; “You’re the Prince of peace, You are mighty (Mighty God).”), and when we know that to be true in our heart, it will result in us praising and worshiping our Savior for that peace we feel now that we know Him! Our lives will be dedicated to holiness (which also promotes peace for us) as we follow the Lord out of the love we have for Him and for all that He has provided for us.

Do you know the Prince of peace? If you do, then join with the Elders from Revelation 4:11 and declare:

“Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created.”

Revelation 4:11

Prayer

Dear God, my Prince of peace, I choose this day to follow You, to trust You, and to forsake any sinful way that is causing chaos in my life. I ask You to produce the fruit of peace in me by the power of Your Holy Spirit as I worship You! Thank You for giving me access to a peace that surpasses all understanding in Jesus, and I ask You to help me let the peace You offer rule my heart and mind in Christ. You are worthy of my praise, and I offer it up to You now in Jesus’ name, Amen.
