Devotional thought

If you listen to the description of the Messiah in Isaiah chapter 61, you will begin to understand the reason Israel is crying out for the Emmanuel to come! He was coming in the power of the Spirit to:

  • proclaim encouragement to the poor,
  • to help the broken-hearted,
  • to release the captives,
  • to announce the year of God’s favor!

I look at this list and I too say, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!”. The great news is that Emmanuel has come and He has brought healing and the power of the Holy Spirit with Him. Jesus Christ is the Emmanuel spoken of in Isaiah 7:14. He is the One who brought about a New Covenant of favor and peace to this world from the Father! It is this Emmanuel that ransomed captive Israel, and by extension all that will receive Him as their personal Savior!

Prayer

Thank You, Lord, for sending Emmanuel to be with us and to deliver us from death and fear. You truly are a wonderful God, and I praise Your name forever! Thank You for including me in Your redemption plan to save us all from Satan’s power. I love You Lord Jesus. Amen
