Does Your Heart Still Bless the Name of the Lord? Worship Devotional

Song of the Day

“Blessed Be Your Name” by Matt Redman

Devotional thought

I know that we all face various seasons in our lives, some better and some worse. And, I really believe that worshiping through these seasonal changes of life keeps us centered on the things that really matter, and provides hope for us when we feel hopeless!

Hebrews 12:2 tells us to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus, and the more we can do that by Blessing His Name regardless of our situations will be the level to which we will have stability in our lives. Our worship needs to remain constant throughout the storms, throughout the pain, throughout everything we endure because it reminds us that God is good and faithful no matter what we are going through.

To bless the name of the Lord is to offer Him praise, to adore Him, to keep Him in the proper place of honor in our lives at all times! That is what we see Job doing in Job 1:21 when he declares that even though the Lord gives and takes away, His name is to blessed no matter what.

How about us? Are we living with that sort of resolve, or do we waver based on our situations? Do we bless the Lord even in hard times? I know this is a challenging discipline, but isn’t our God worthy of our praise regardless of our current situations?

I believe He is, because our situations change continually, but His faithfulness and love never change! They are a constant, even if we do not feel as though they are. So, let’s join together with Job and declare blessings upon the Name of our Lord!

Prayer

Father God, You are worthy of my praises at all times! I am sorry when I allow my circumstances to steal the praises I have for You. Holy Spirit please give me the resilience to have a faith such as Job’s that declares Your praises and stands on the Truth of Your Word at all times. Help me to know You and Your character that is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen
