Re-Post: God is Able, Do You Believe?

I have decided to re-post this devotional from 2 years ago in the hopes that it will minister to you this week! We are doing this song again this Sunday (1/28/24), along with several other songs encouraging us to believe in the powerful name of Jesus Christ whatever we are facing!

Enjoy!

Song of the Day

“Believe For It” by CeCe Winans

Devotional thought

“What I believe about God is the most important thing about me.”

A.W. Tozer

Do you believe that? What does your faith say about you? Are you believing God for something right now? How are you expressing that belief?

Well, these are all challenging questions, because the answers are not easily measured. We could answer them with the proper Christian platitudes, but when we are in the midst of a challenging time are we really believing God to move the immovable for us? Our actions will prove that, like James says, “I will show you my faith by my works.” (James 2:18(b)).

We must remember that our faith is constantly being challenged, and that we are fragile in our belief. We are easily swayed, prone to wonder in our mind, and forgetful of the miracles that happened in our lives when we are in the throws of a trial. It is just human nature to battle these things.

The disciples were a great example of this when they responded to trials in fear, many times questioning whether Jesus even cared! I love their vulnerability in Luke 17:5 when they say to Jesus, “Lord, increase our faith!”. I can so relate to that statement, but I might also add, “Lord, increase my consistency in prayer, my perseverance through trials, my trust in Your power, etc.”.

The opening quote by A.W. Tozer has been so impactful to me over the years. It reminds me that my actions are always determined by what I believe about God. What does it say about what I believe about my God when I:

  • Become hopeless
  • Succumb to temptation
  • Live in Fear
  • Become negligent in Prayer

Those are just a few things out of a list of ways we can express a lack of faith in God’s ability to be our all-in-all! We must allow God to have the final say in our lives. When doubt creeps up, we must respond with prayer. As lies enter into our thought patterns, we must take them captive and make them obey Christ, according to 2 Cor 10:5.

Our weapon must be the Word of God as we attack the father of lies! He is constantly attempting to convince us that our God is untrustworthy. But, we must respond to those attacks with the Sword of the Spirit and remind our enemy of his defeated status!

Our King Jesus lives! The tomb is empty! And we are His forever!

  • He hears us!
  • He sees us!
  • And, He knows us!

We believe that anything we ask according to His will is ours in Christ (1 John 5:14)! We have been given every spiritual blessing in Christ, and we will believe that we are living under the shadow of the Almighty’s protective wing!

Child of God, BELIEVE IT! Start confessing the promises you have in Christ, and watch your faith increase as your doubts decrease!

Prayer

Oh Lord, I praise You for being trustworthy! I can have absolute confidence that You are for me and not against me, that I am Your child and You desire to bless me with good and perfect gifts from Your throne!

I love You Lord and I look for You to do miracles in the situations in my life that are tempting me to doubt Your ability! I know You are able, I know that You are willing, and I know that You can move the immovable and break the unbreakable in my life! I thank You for that confidence I can have in You and I ask that You increase my faith! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
