Take Him at His Word and Deed! – My Savior My God

Song of the Day

“My Savior, My God” by Aaron Schust

Devotional thought

Revelation 1:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He is the One who was, is, and is to come! The Almighty God!

The Scripture is very clear in repeatedly describing Jesus Christ as the Supreme God and 2nd person of the Triune Godhead. Yet, there are some that refuse to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Almighty God that He is. It is a sad reality, but a reality nonetheless.

The Bible tells us that this Eternal One from the Father came from Heaven to Earth to make His dwelling among humanity (John 1:1-3, 14). This is an incredible thing to contemplate, the Son of God left His place on High to come and save humanity by becoming a person like us!

Who can fathom such a thing as this? How are we ever to understand the depth of that sort of knowledge? I don’t know that humanity ever will apart from a personal experience that results in the transformation of one’s heart by faith! Faith is the key element that allows us to “take Him at His Word and Deed”!

Making the personal connection

Like me, you may be utterly perplexed by the idea of a Savior coming to make His dwelling among us to save us from our sins. It’s ok to be perplexed about this, but don’t allow what cannot be fully understood to stop you from believing it by faith!

His ways are not our ways. They are much higher and better! In our song of the day we sing these words,

“I take Him at His word and deed, Christ died to save me this I read. And in my heart I find a need of Him to be my Savior.”

Aaron Schust – My Savior, My God (Verse 2)

I hope and pray that this reality of a loving Savior, Almighty and Supreme for all of eternity, who came to earth on a rescue mission to save you and me compels you to dedicate yourself to Him as the Lord of your life! He is the one who came, and will come again, and my prayer is that through faith you will be ready for the second coming of this God and Savior because of your belief in His first coming!

Jesus Christ lives! He loves you. And…He is always there for us when we call upon Him! He’s always “gonna be”.

Questions for Reflection

  • Have you trusted in Christ as your personal Savior and God?
  • Are you trusting in God even though you are not skilled to understand His ways and what He has planned?
  • Do you take the Bible as you read it, or do you need it to make sense before you believe by faith?

Action Steps

Begin exercising faith by confessing truths found in the Bible that go beyond your understanding, yet you choose to trust and believe! For example, Ephesians 1:3 tells us that we have been blessed with “every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus”! Start confessing that over yourself and praising God for such a blessing!

Rehearse the Gospel message for yourself and your testimony, and look for opportunities to share them with others. Sometimes the best way to exercise faith is by sharing your faith with someone else.

Sing the song of the day several times and allow the words to have an impact on your expression of worship! This song has an incredible declaration of truth(s) and I have found it to be an excellent way for me to declare what I believe to be true of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Lord God, I praise You for being high above anything or anyone! Your ways truly are good and outside of my ability to understand. Yet, You have revealed to me all that is needed to understand who You are, what You have done, and who I am in You. And, I appreciate You for giving me that Truth to hold on to. I love You Lord and I believe that You truly do love me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
