Devotional thought
“Are you too scared to move?” is a lyric in the first verse of the song of the day today. Scared to move out of the grave that you feel trapped in right now and actually feel comfortable in too. This is a dangerous thing for anyone to be facing, but especially those that call Christ Jesus their Lord!
Jesus came to give us life and life abundantly! He calls us out of the grave and into resurrected life! And if He calls us to do that, we must believe that He equips us to do that too!
So, what did He equip us with? He has blessed us with unbelievable gifts, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and the Church! We are not alone. We are not left to do this “walking out of the grave” thing by ourselves, and by our own strength! We need to rely on the gifts that Christ left us to help us live out our Christianity!
Maybe even right now you need to pray specifically to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to be your Coach as you seek to apply Scripture to your situation (He points us into all Truth!). Or, possibly you need to call a Pastor or close friend (of the same sex preferable) and get honest about your current situation. There are many who would appreciate the opportunity to help you – even now!
Getting help isn’t a sign of weakness, it is a sign of maturity. Rise up child of God, and take off those grave clothes! Open up the Bible and start meditating on the wonderful, life-giving messages of hope and redemption found there. The Word of God truly does have healing power, as indicated in Psalm 107:19-20, so let’s access that power and find the help we need for our specific situation!
I will leave you with another lyric from this song in the hopes that it will encourage you reading this today to trust in the Lord and to live the new life you have in Him. Rise Up into that resurrected and redeemed life for His glory!

Prayer
My Lord and God, I praise You for redeeming my life and giving me hope again! I praise You for blessing me with every spiritual blessing in Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit to coach me as I live my life by faith. Please help me to climb out of any grave that I may be trapped in, and to live my life abundantly for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
