Jesus Christ, Who is He To You?

The audio recording of this post

This week we are doing very theologically driven songs that declare who Christ Jesus is and why we worship Him! I know that you may be thinking, “Well isn’t every set list that way?”. The answer to that is yes, but there are some songs that do a tremendous job of declaring the Personhood, or nature of Christ as Deity – and that is what is so exciting about the set list for this week (8/22/21) at Eagleville Bible Church! Here is the list of songs and the Scriptures that collaborate with them:

Devotional Thought

I have been thinking quite a bit about the Supremacy of Christ lately, and I find great encouragement in the Scriptures sited above! It is so good to remind ourselves of Who it is that we are surrendered to and have asked to be our Lord and Savior. So, I want to just list a few things that I have found to be true of the Only Faithful and True expression of the Father who came and dwelt among us so that He could prove Himself to be the mighty Deliverer – Jesus Christ is His Name!

Our King Jesus is:

  • Our Savior and God
  • Our Truth and Grace
  • The expressed image of the invisible God
  • The Way, the Truth, and the Life!
  • He is the King of kings
  • He is the Lord of lords
  • Jesus is the Alpha and Omega
  • The beginning and the end
  • The Rock
  • Our Source
  • Our Deliverer
  • Our Defense
  • Our Mediator
  • Our Propitiation
  • Jesus Christ is our righteousness
  • He is our Peace
  • He is the Wisdom from above
  • He is the light of the World
  • He is the forgiver of our sins
  • He is Creator
  • In Him is life eternal
  • He is the Word of God that was in the beginning with God, and is God!
  • He is Faithful and True
  • Our Shield
  • Our Strength
  • Our Intercessor
  • Our Living Hope!
  • The Healer
  • The Provider
  • The Anointed One sent from the Father!
  • The Lion and the Lamb

This is certainly not an exhaustive list, but it is just something I listed off in the last 3 minutes or so (because I am a very slow typer!), and I know these all to be true from my experience as a Christ follower! He has been all of these in my life, and I know that I can rely upon Him to continue to be this for me , and any who call upon Him for Salvation. I can be confident of this because this is His nature! It is who He is. He cannot operate in any other way, it is in these ways that He expresses Himself and operates.

This is the list I wrote down, and I could probably just keep going and going honestly, but I am asking you today – Who is Jesus Christ to you? This is the most important question you will ever respond to! It will define your life, it will position you for blessing or cursing, it will offer you hope or leave you hopeless, it will provide answers for you or leave you helpless in your pursuit of truth, it will put you into the light or leave you in the dark, it will offer you freedom from sin or keep you in bondage to it! Jesus Christ is the One that will make life full and give you purpose! He will save your soul from eternal Hell. Our God will love you, meaning He will show you a love that you have never known before! He will never leave you nor forsake you!

Who is Jesus Christ to you? Have you surrendered your life to Him? Have you come to know the Good Shepherd who cares for His flock and knows His sheep?

Please consider these questions and respond to them truthfully. He knows your heart! If you have not yet done so, invite Jesus Christ to take the position of Lord in your life, ask Him to forgive your sins and to reveal the Father’s love for you, and commit yourself to living a righteous life by the power of His Spirit! You will never regret that decision!

This is all made so much more tangible as I regroup from doing music at a Graveside service. There is nothing more humbling than to see the reality of death to help us contemplate our life right now. The truth is that we will all be faced with either one of two things, death or the imminent return of Christ, and when that day comes I pray that you will have sincerely asked the question I am asking today and responded in faith to receive Him as your personal Savior so that on that day you will not be swallowed up by death but everlasting life forever! That is the hope that Jesus offers us all who call upon His name! Trust Him today, and forever.

God bless you!
