Lunch Devo: Ps 145:18-19

Yesterday we discussed that God is near to all from Acts 17:27, and in today’s verses we see that reminder again! Actually, it is one of the most recited reminders all throughout the Bible – God is with us, He is near to us, He is available when we call out to Him! What a … Read more

Love Recklessly and Hope Expectantly

I pray that as you entrust the battles of your life to the Lord, that you would experience His reckless love as you recognize His voice and discover the hope that comes through submission to the Name of Jesus Christ and the grace that He gives us!

Do You Think Before You Speak?

To be rash with our words is to be hasty in expressing them, to not give much thought to what we say and how we say it, to be afraid and terrified or anxious as we express them is another element of its use too. Pretty much I take it as speaking and doing things without giving it much thought.
I love being around someone who is patient and careful with their words! I usually will tend to listen more intently to what they have to say when they do speak because I know that they are choosing their words carefully. That is wisdom! To think through our responses, to listen to the other persons perspective, or the whole issue before offering up counsel, is so important and creates security for the other people involved.

Operational Upgrades for Our Lives

Prayer is that part of the process that allows us to be honest about our system’s operating functions, and communicates the issues to the Technical Advisor (Holy Spirit). Once you have communicated to God through prayer, heard from the Spirit through the Word, and confirmed it through a close and trusted support group, then it is time to change (repent). Make the necessary adjustments in your life and allow the new and improved update from the Lord to enhance your life and your relationships with those that are close to you. Anytime we receive a system upgrade, it should allow for a better all around experience of our devices. The same should be true of our lives whenever we receive upgrades from the Spirit too!

Spiritual Access is Granted!

God is our Savior, Deliverer, Redeemer, Hope, Peace, Healer, Comforter, Truth, Holiness, Friend, Brother, Helper, Wonderful Counselor, Provision, Source, and so-on. Of which of these are you in need right now, and what is stopping you from crying out to Him while you look for that attribute of God to fill a need in your life? He is calling to you and telling you that it is ok to come to Him at all times to find grace in your times of need. So, go to Him and seek Him for the mercy and grace that you are in need of right now! He loves you and is sympathizing with you!

Are You Real with God and Yourself when You Pray?

I can remember reading Psalm 42 & 43, along with a Sermon Series from the Pastor of my previous church, and being gripped by the honesty of David as he cried out to the Lord in desperation. He starts with saying that he is thirsty for the living God to show up (Ps. 42:1)! When was the last time you told God that you need Him to show up for you just like a deer needs the waters to be there when it goes to a stream for something to drink. Without His presence, we will not be able to continue on just the same as an animal deprived of water will not be able to survive. Is God’s presence that important to you? What are you willing to do to sense His presence and continually press into that presence? I am reminded of Moses telling God that unless He go with them, the Israelites will not go (see Exodus 33:13-17), and I hope that we will all be this honest about our need for God’s presence to be with us as we live out our lives by faith!

Are You Seeing Your Job as a Means of Enjoying Life?

See, for us who know God as our personal Savior and Provider, we are able to see beyond the cares and concerns of our day and see the bigger picture of what we do and why we do it. We sense the bigger purpose behind our labor. We work as unto the Lord. We work with purity and honesty, along with integrity. We work because we know that we have a strong opportunity to witness to a lost world around us through our efforts in our job. So, we are able to do our best and then leave it there while we trust God to work things out for us. Trusting in God makes all things better. Remember that Proverbs 3:15-16 tells us to rely upon Him and He will make our paths straight. Maybe that is applicable to our job too??
