Worship Devo: What Are You Believing God For?

There are times that I say something similar to that of a father desperate to see God’s intervention in his son’s life, “Lord, I believe, but help my unbelief!” (see Mark 9:24). I don’t feel like there is anything more I can do to make myself believe more! I trust, I seek, I plead, and still the solution seems to illusive to me. This is where faith needs to take place, believing in the unseen at work in what I can see!

Worship Devo: Do You Have the Faith to Follow God Wherever He Leads You?

There are times in our lives when we will have to get out of the “boat” and trust the Lord. Starting a new job, showing love to our spouse when they don’t deserve it, following the steps to sobriety when it will result in us losing so-called friends, signing up to serve in a ministry that we feel inadequate to be in, etc. These are just some of the ways we need to keep our eyes on Jesus and trust in Him, even as we see the effects of the “wind” around us that seems to be fighting against our progress. We have to stay focused, stand firm in our faith, and call upon our God to increase our faith as we follow Him!

Seeing Our Blessings as God Opens the Eyes of Our Heart

I believe one of the most unfortunate things that I witness as a believer of Jesus Christ is the lack of appreciation and gratitude we have towards our Great Father for all of the many blessings that He pours out towards us each and every day! The Scriptures are clear to say that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father (James 1:17), and then Jesus says that the Father is the One who loves to give gifts to those who ask Him (Matt 7:11)!

Joy in Today’s World?

Joy is that type of disposition that is not dependent upon the feelings we have (although the dictionary States that it is a “feeling” of great pleasure), but upon the choices we make daily to remain hopeful and dependent upon our Savior Jesus Christ. In the Christmas story found in Luke chapter 2, when the Angel appeared to the Shepherds he told them not to be afraid because he brings them good news that will bring great joy to many people (Luke 2:8-14). The Shepherds had a choice to make right then on whether to believe this angel, remain fearful, or to take courage and be filled with joy at the message he was giving them. the message was this, “Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11). This was what was to bring great joy to many people!

What Do You Allow to Control Your Heart?

Colossians 3:15 (NET)“Let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one body to this peace), and be thankful.” Such a short and sweet verse holding in it a profound statement! Let the peace of Christ be in control of your heart. As we have been … Read more

Love Ties Everything Together in Your Spiritual Wardrobe.

Have you ever said that you agape someone? I am guessing not. But have you ever had that type of love where you would do anything for them and literally lay yourself down for them? I know that I have an agape love for my wife and children, my mom and dad, my brothers and sisters, and others that are very close to me. I want to be sacrificial and unconditionally loving to all of those people in my life, and I make an effort to do so. The Bible tells me to have that love for everyone! That is a different standard altogether. I don’t want to love some people. I don’t want to like some people. But, God’s ways are higher than my ways, so I must make the choice to love them regardless of how I feel because love (agape love) goes beyond feelings.
